Welcome!!! Thank you for Visiting!!!

AGAINST THE WIND – JANE-CLAIRE’S PERSONAL SALVATION was probably the most difficult novel and script I’ve ever written because the characters and situations were based on the true experience of my family during Hurricane Katrina, one of the worst natural disasters in United States history.

Often, when a person goes through a natural disaster or a more personal hurricane such as a death, divorce in the family, a difficult move, or serious illness or surgery, they don’t like to “revisit” the story. They avoid it, feel as if they have moved on, and may even pretend that the event never even happened, refusing to mention it.

I was encouraged to write this story for a long time. It has been twelve years since Katrina. I was supported by friends, family, even Jane-Claire herself, and writing the script then the novel was still quite a task.

But the more I wrote, the more I recognized common threads that run through all lives. Regardless of age, sex, nationality, much of the “lasting” and everyday human life  is similar. You are not alone in the trials or joys before you.

“Being Irish, He had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy.” Wm. Butler Yeats

I love the quote although I’m not one bit Irish!! True Dat!!!  The words ring authentic and clear.

Aftermath is a state of being. Whether natural disaster or personal catastrophe, a survivor develops a wary distrust that often makes it hard to accept when good or even great things happen. The “other shoe” might drop at any moment. Don’t… Both are part of life. The storm and the beautiful blue sky.

Endure the one but always remember to enjoy the other!!

Take a look at Re-imagine Living Life on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi about day trips out to Dauphin Island. Jane-Claire and her friend Natalie have season passes in AGAINST THE WIND!! Make plans to go!!

Thank you for visiting!! Wish we could share a cuppa!! Come again anytime!!

While you’re here, I’d like to ask you to go to the Newsletter Tab and leave your first name and email address to receive an excerpt from AGAINST THE WIND and also advance notification of the novel release date!! I will never sell or exploit your information.
